Michelle was having an affair with Denny behind John Phillips back and
he wrote "I Saw Her Again" to punish them. I always felt John let
Denny's mistake stay on the record, so he'd have to sing that flub on TV
and in concert by himself.
Talk about stabbing a band member in the back - and one of the reasons
that group was short-lived.
To keep it short: John was hooked on Drugs, Denny was becoming an
alcoholic, Cass raised hell all the time, over-indulging in everything,
and Michelle was unhappy being John's wife and slept around. Michelle
was kicked out of the group for 3 months because she had an affair with
the Byrds' Gene Clark (lucky girl!).
