Or how about a list of the greatest guitar solos on a U.S. 1? I might be
tempted to go with The Knack, but here's a Top 10, chronological order,
strictly based on memory. Bill Haley & His Comets "Rock Around The Clock,"
Elvis' "Heartbreak Hotel," Buddy Holly's "That'll Be The Day," The Beatles
"Can't Buy Me Love," Wayne Fontana's "Game of Love," Donovan "Sunshine
Superman," The Beatles' "Let It Be," The Knack "My Sharona," Brian May on
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and David Bowie "Let's Dance." Then again,
I haven't really listened to the radio since then...
Of course, I'd have to go back and listen to hundreds of records, but I
really like those solos.

>Can you name a greater guitar solo than
Burton Averre's on 'My Sharona'? (Seriously?)

A game I play with non-guitarist friends (or barely-playing, in my case)is a
sort of Genie grants a wish - you are suddenly gifted with the ability to
play note for note one and only one guitar solo. Pick it.

My Sharona is always in my top 5. Sultans of Swing is usually in there, too.
Sometimes a Neil Young song, though which one varies (Down By The River,
usually).
