They aren't poetry (poetry vs. lyrics is a different
thread altogether), but I agree that Ian Curtis wrote
lyrics that perfectly suited both his band's image and
their sound.

We all seem to agree on that. My point is, why must
they be? Why not aim higher than moon/June/spoon?

Well, I can think of lots of lyrics that are more
idiotic (including that deathless classic, "Surfin'
Bird"). As far as lyrics that are banal and
pedestrian, though, "My Sharona" is right up there
with the worst offenders.
