Rob - I recently picked up the remastered "Get the Knack" cheaply. Reading
the new liner notes, it seems Doug Fieger was claiming that he was besotted
with the real life Sharona (who graced the cover of the "My Sharona" 45
sleeve I, think). He said most of the songs were about her, but written
from the point of view of a 14 year old schoolkid, as some kind of
conceptual high-art thing. The band were supposedly surprised when the
critics started lambasting the juvenile schoolboy humour in the songs.

But then again he would say that, wouldn't he :-)
