Maybe not in your home...but Ian Curtis' lyrics are some of the greatest of the post-punk era. Just listen to "Leaders of Men" or "Transmission" or "She's Lost Control", to name three off the top of my head. Not to mention "Atmosphere", which should slay any human who has ever been in contact with another. That ain't no Jellyfish.

For the most part, pop lyrics are throwaway, frivolous. But the musicianship is fantastic (maybe to make up for the lyrics?). Re: the Knack. Can the drums by Bruce Gary on GTK ever be bettered? Can you name a greater guitar solo than Burton Averre's on 'My Sharona'? (Seriously?) Can you name a more idiotic lyric?

For the most part punk and post-punk music is frivolous. But the lyrics, at least from English (NOT the Ramones) punk and post-punk bands, (maybe to make up for the musicianship?) are fantastic. Re: Can you name a better delivered lyric than "Pretty Vacant"?

Take what you can or want from either, my sons, and you get great music.

Love will tear us apart,
Rob
