I'm 9 years old. It's February 9, 1964, Sunday night, Ed Sullivan
show...a rilly big shew that changed my life.
Prior to that I have vague recollections of "Be My Baby" and "Stranger
On The Shore" having an almost spiritual affect on me. I'm kind of
proud that I connected and bonded with the right stuff even at that
age. For every other f*cked up, regrettable and embarrasing thing I did
in my life, they can't take that away from me.
Another thing, I was so consumed with The Beatles, the British Invasion
and all the other wonderful sixties pop, that I didn't TRULY discover
the awesome wonderfullness that is Brian Wilson till about 1971 or so.
It was the second renaissance for me. In those days, the record bins
had precious little Beach Boys catalogue. They were not considered very
hip when the rest of the world was listening to Led Zeppelin II.

My mom finds us an extension cord and tells us to go to the backyard to listen as to not disturb in the house with the music... He flashes the album cover at me and asks... "Have you heard these guys?"... There before me was a dark blueish cover of four guys, their faces half-shadowed... So incredibly different from all the Chubby Checker and Fabian record covers that my sister had... and that name!... so weird... "The Beatles?"... "Pop Combo from England?"... Sure let's listen... First chords of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"... and the rest is history... One night I'll never forget and to this day lives with me... Little did I know...
