My next-door neighbors, Betty and John Steiner, gave me a (vinyl) copy of
"The Beatles' 20 Greatest Hits" for my birthday. (It came, as I recall,
with a bonus 45.) Can't remember which birthday it was, but it was my early
teens. Whenever it was, that was pretty much all she wrote. Definitely the
most important musical moment in my life.
Close second, however, was going to see "Sid and Nancy" at the Naro Expanded
Cinema in Norfolk...
