Stacy:
I have three daughters in their 20s (21, 23 & 25). All of them are
passionate about music. The oldest one went through her phase when she
was going to shows a lot, especially the PopScene in SF (lots of
Brit-pop). But I know she never went on-line looking for more music info
or message boards. Now that she lives in a small town a couple of hours
outside of the city, she rarely gets to any shows.
My middle daughter still goes to some shows, but she leans much more
toward the Dave Matthews side of rock than to the pop. However, she did
make me a comp CD for my recent b-day with some of her favorite songs
that she picked up from me (Jellyfish, Aimee Mann, XTC). Made me cry it
was so cool.
My youngest, Cindy, plays guitar, sings and goes to lots of shows. Last
year she surprised me for my birthday by singing me Nilsson's "Puppy
Song". Anyway, she sees a lot of indie pop bands, but her music time
on-line is spent finding the shows rather than discussing the music.
There's a silent majority of pop fans of all ages that don't frequent
music lists like Audities, but many are out there reading mags (like
Amplifier and MOJO which I subscribe to and my two youngest daughters
also read) and spending time in music stores digging for new stuff.
It's cool that you're here, Stacy!
