The May 2005 Fufkin.com page is up. This month we
have the following record reviews:

Mike Bennett presents full length reviews of new
releases from Doleful Lions, The Redwalls, The Sights,
Flannelmouth and The Hold Steady, along with capsule
reviews of the new British Sea Power, Goodbye Blue
Monday, Anders Parker, Dallas Orbiter, Splendid, The
Capitol Years, The Shivers, The Love Thugs, A Northern
Chorus, a tribute to Bread, a compilation of the ‘90s
British band Reverb and a reissue of ‘60s Canadian
psych-rockers Plastic Cloud.

Gary Glauber reviews the latest from Dum Dog Run
(featuring Rick Altizer) and The Arts and Sciences.

Michael Lynch reviews the latest from The Demands.
Katherine Kim reviews the newest from jazz pianist
Jason Moran. And Kurt Sampsel reviews a reissue from
the Blues Magoos.

Michael Lynch interviewed the Subway Surfers, who have
recently released an EP.

There are two new books on hip-hop history around the
world, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A History of the
Hip-Hop Generation by Jeff Chang and Where You’re At:
Notes From the Frontline of a Hip-Hop Planet by
Patrick Neate. Katherine Kim has a reviews of these
two tomes.

Michael Mazzarella of The Rooks recently issued a DVD
of live performances of many Rooks songs and
previously unreleased tracks, with a terrific crew of
bandmates. Gary Pig Gold tracked Michael down to chat
about this, among other things.

Imagine Jack Black’s character if he were more of a
jerk and not funny or charming. That would be the
essence of a true rock snob. Mike Bennett muses about
rock snobbery and gives his take on the recently
issued book, The Rock Snob’s Dictionary.

Alan Haber is reaching a milestone birthday. He
reflects on turning 50, and the role of music in his
life. Happy birthday, Alan!

Soft-pop fans should get to know the artistry of Louis
Phillipe. Robert Pally goes one step further and gets
to know Mr. Phillipe himself, and we have the
interview.

Kevin Mathews is not the type of guy to let success
get to his head. Even though he’s scored a feature
film that will be screened at Cannes, he still has the
time to favor music lovers with So Much Music, So
Little Time and his patented Blurb-o-rama system.
He’s blurbs and ramas about release from Guitar Wolf,
Atticus Finch, The Get Outs, Dropzines, Prettymess,
Gliss, Lola Dutronic and much more.

Eric Sorensen has further Further Observations From a
Jangly Music Fan, raving about Roger McGuinn in
concert (as any Jangly Music Fan must), American
Suitcase, Tish Hinojosa, David Grahame, Russ
Schneider, Frenzy, The Spongetones, Dum Dog Run,
tributes to Neil Diamond and Bread and much more.

We hope you all come and visit us.
