Love that Bright Eyes song and clip. I have a little trouble digesting his
warbly voice in large doses, but that performance on Leno was flat-out
great. What a song! Nice to see some people still have a sack on occasion.

Which leads me to James McMurtry, one of the least-appreciated songwriters
roaming the earth. Check out his website where there is a download of "We
Can't Make It Here"...this ranks alongside the all time great protest songs
(and don't let that phrase conjure up a false image - it's a great song,
period).

And last but not least, BRASS CITY BAND by The Gentlemen is their best
record yet and just the right tonic for blowing away the crap in your life
with a volume knob and a beer. Gotta love a band that can slip in a couple
of verses of Van's "Wavelength" into a song coda just because they feel like
it.

So...how's that new Ryan Adams record?

Graham Parker with The Figgs _and_ Brett Rosenberg (on guitar, not as a
support act) hitting the road, plus John Hiatt (new record and tour)...new
records from Dramarama and Redd Kross...Summer looks good!

cheers
b

P.S. I saw Link Wray Monday night - all 76 years old of him, looking like
the world's oldest Ramone! Still rocking hard, catch the master while you
still can. (I'll have a review of that show in the next Cosmik Debris, where
you can also read how I went to see an alternative package show and came
away liking the hip hop band). Also for you proggers, Muse was one of the
more amazing displays of musicianship I've seen in way too long - even
better than last year.
