people should never ask my opinions. haha. here's what it was:

rob, and others..

in my opinion (and kinda in truth) the whole "getting
signed/discovered" necessity is a thing of the past - big labels are
shlock, a lot of times, i think we all know. always have been, always
will be. even if someone IS "discovered" by one of these labels, they
can quickly get ruined. false promises, band contracts/promo...

now, as a musician myself (unfortunately) haha - the internet and
small indies have really helped artists.

however, in all reality, it's a matter of getting your music out to
people. getting a good buzz you can do yourself, plus
touring/radio/press - if done selectively, all can be done oneself.

and also in my opinion, i have NOT found a majority of good bands go
unnoticed. but with the whole "myspace oh anyone can have a band -
that's me!" ethos going on (see : myspace.com/crudslide - i'm not
saying i'm any better haha) - i don't know about quality anymore.. its
a lotta quantity, overwhelming, and truth be told, a little
disappointing and disheartening.

plus, i LIKE underrated bands (smithereens).. it keeps purity and
coolness. these bands still have FANS.

as for other stuff... damn, it CAN be tough now i guess. my genre is
weird. but stones/beatles/kinks/elvis... has it all truly been DONE
already? i dont think so. but...

why are there no big, led-zep style bands anymore? or people doing raw
honest stuff like dylan?

people just need to be selective, perhaps. too much fighting against
what sounds good for the sake of style, being over the top.. bleh.

dunno. i'm sure we all like pop songs here, but i like a REALLY wide
variety of music. so if a band can't come up with something that
impresses me past one or two songs, its kinda sad, really, i think.

and REALLY, why do bands have such a hard time writing solid albums?
maybe rushed?

i know it's all a matter of personal taste. which is the only reason i
can give for bands like oasis becoming popular. hey, there's something
out there for anyone. i personally think adam green's voice (and weird
songwriting.. beck anyone? his newest, guero, is AMAZING...) is great.
and that the strokes are a great velvet
underground/television/cars/insert in-vogue retro band here - band.

:)

thanks for reading my stupid, long, opinionated post.
