Real Illusions: Reflections
Not gonna get into it too much, but this may be the best thing he's done since Alien Love Secrets.
(I'm not counting the tremendous live achievement that is "Alive in an Ultra World").
There are some of the most bizarre sounds made with a guitar I have ever heard on this album.
He sings on a couple tracks, but not in the "Zappaesque" way he 's done in the past. Not bad for Steve.
He also introduces a fretless guitar which has the oddest tone I've heard, period.
Very creative. He explores some "whole tone" progressions that end up being rather melodic.
There are honest to goodness hair raising moments for the fans of Melodic Pyro Guitar.
...your mileage may vary.
