What I'm reading between all the emails is an issue of the haves vs. the
have nots. Now only the rich can afford to see Paul McCartney, U2 and the
Rolling Stones, et al. (or those who are risking money they may need for
other things just to have this "once in a lifetime" experience).

I see an enthusiastic fanbase of pop lovers on this list wanting to impart
their musical tastes onto another generation of listeners (many of them sons
and daughters). I will not be one of them. I got to see McCartney when
tickets were $89.95 in 1990 [which, BTW, is just as ridiculous when you put
inflation into conext].

My kids, however, will never get to see this "living legend" because I can
no longer afford to shell out $100+ per ticket on presumably *cheap*
entertainment.

McCartney hasn't stopped for 15 seconds to think that maybe, just once, he
could give some of it back to the people -- y'know, the millions of fans who
lined his pockets over the past 40 years.

How about a free show in Central Park for cripes sake? Just a "thanks" or
something would be nice.
Instead we've got American Express trying to sell us friggin' credit cards
in the middle of "Paperback Writer" on the Sucked-In-Tron.
