Hello, all.
Yesterday morning, I was privileged to interview the great Andy Partridge from
XTC for my Pure Pop radio show and buhdge web site. Andy and I spoke for well
over two hours; it's a career-spanning interview, chock-full of detail and
absolutely fascinating every step of the way as Andy talks passionately about
his songwriting process, various songs from the XTC catalog (including
in-depth analysis of the controversial "Dear God" and Apple Venus' "Your
Dictionary"), the recording of Skylarking, the Fuzzy Warbles series, songs he
would like to have written, XTC's b-sides, the current status of the band, and
much, much more.
Andy is about as nice a guy as they come. This is one of those
once-in-a-lifetime experiences I am so grateful for, and will never, ever forget.
The interview will run on Pure Pop in a couple of weeks; portions will be
posted on buhdge soon after. I'll let everyone know the dates as soon as I
know them.
