Exactly, but that's all you're really getting by seeing McCartney at some Enormodome these days. I saw him at old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia on the Flowers in the Dirt tour. He and his band were little specs who could only be observed with any definition on large screens that were up on the stage. Because of the distance and whatever other factors go into such things (I stink at retaining speed of sound/speed of light facts), the sound and the images did not link up. My beef with paying $350 for a stadium or big arena concert doesn't have so much to do with the price itself, because surely the body of McCartney's work has got to be worth more than the body of most other artists' work, even in these inflated times, but the fact that you're paying all that money to watch a band on video screens with sound that doesn't quite sync. A couple of years ago, when the Rolling Stones did that tour where they'd play a few different venues in cities, they played a show at Philly's!
Tower Theater, a great 5000-seat place where you can actually see and feel the presence of the humans onstage. The tickets for that were really expensive and barely available, but that would have been a show worth paying $350 to see. In my humble opinion...
And hey, I didn't know they had closed-circuit Beatles concerts! That's a great story. I'd love to hear more about it whenever you have the time.
