We're not alone.

From the BW web site:

"Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE" Tops Year-End Polls
Brian's phenomenal success with "SMiLE" reached critics and fans alike, as
it was named to numerous polls as one of 2004's finest albums, as well as
live performances. 

SMiLE was named the Top Album of 2004 by Entertainment Weekly, placed as one
of the year's best at Rolling Stone, and best album and live event at
England's XFM. The album was also named as one of the Ten Best in Spin
Magazine; Brian was chosen as Best Artist by Hannanmorezider; "SMiLE" was
voted #5 in the Los Angeles Times Year-End Top Ten Critics Poll; in the UK
Metro, Brian won Comeback of the Year, saying that Brian "proved that SMiLE
was the masterpiece everyone has always hoped it was."

In addition, SMiLE was named Top Scoring Album of 2004 by Metacritic, with
an astounding score of 96. Metacritic compiled critics' ratings from around
the world, resulting in SMiLE becoming the highest-rated album of the year.
