Hey Y'all
Caught the Undertones live last night in Santa Ana and thought that I'd pass
this info onto other fans who may not know that they are currently on tour
in the U.S.! There's still a few dates left to catch them at! And let's
face it, the 'tones have always been more about 'pop' than 'punk', which is
why i'm bringing it up.
If you've been following the band these last few years, you'll know that
they reunited with a new vocalist and put out a great album, "Get What You
Need", in 2003. They have played a few U.S. East Coast gigs in the last few
years,but this is the largest U.S. jaunt they've done in close to 25 years!
Yeah, I know that Feargal's voice was either the reason many loved them or
hated them, but the other four guys actually wrote the songs (especially
John O'Neill). And the other four guys, Mickey Bradley, John O'Neill,
Damien O'Neill and Billy Doherty, are part of the reunited line-up, so there
are plenty of reasons to still love them. Doherty is not on this U.S. tour
due to an accident he had about a week before the tour was to start.
The show was great and Paul McLoone, the new vocalist, is fantastic. He
tackles the old songs with an energy that Feargal probably couldn't drag up
anymore. The newer songs take on a life of their own, although they remain
rooted in the 'tones classic sound. Here's a set list for those curious
