I was a bit slow in picking this one up, but I am finally playing and really enjoying Planet of the Popboomerang 2. Scott Thurling has done a magnificent job of compiling a bevy of rare/ unreleased tracks by a bunch of great (many cool lesser known) bands from all over the globe. Not a dull moment over the entire 2 cds. Fun graphics and very informative liner notes, too. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't picked it up yet. Along with the Yellow Pills release it's turning out to be a bumper crop year for great compilations.

SO...I'm curious, since the Planet 2 liner notes pose this very question... who wins the battle? - America (Disc 2) or Australia / Rest of World (Disc 1)? Time to vote, Audities...

Hmm...maybe this paves the way for a Pop Olympics...(I can just see the Eastern European judges holding up scorecards now! And think of all the musicians and fans that could run..or maybe walk?.. the pop torch around the world. What a spectacle that would be!). David Bash, are you ready for the challenge of setting this up with help from Scotty?

Any early reports from IPO Chicago? Really wish I could be there. Hope everyone who can is getting out there...even if you haven't heard of some of the bands, David has booked some really good ones this time round.
