Honestly - the next one I'd recommend is "Used Guitars" - where the
covers and originals fit ably side by side. I don't have "My Tidy Doily
Dream" but as the only album I'm missing I'm thinking I will pick it up
just because I've been listening to her this morning as well. Live at
Spirit Square is a nice live retrospective - and was briefly the only
way to get "Follow You All Over the World" (one of my favorites from
Marti) on CD, given the 5 minutes A&M had her first album
(Unsophisticated Time) available on CD. DAR (Dixon Archival Remnants ??)
did reissue this a few years ago, but it looks like that has now gone
out of print too. For some reason "My Long Haired Life" never quite
clicked in for me, but I'm going to revisit it - as my attention was
just on other sounds when it came out.

I think I've related this story here before, but sometime around '87ish
I was going to see Marti and Everything But the Girl on a double bill in
L.A. and got rear-ended on Wilshire Blvd. Though I had a rather
unpleasant wound on my forehead (where I hit the too close window on an
old VW bug), I insisted that we go as I didn't think this sort of
terrific double bill was likely to present itself again. I've never got
to see Marti again, and never regretted pressing on!

As I searched around this morning I also noticed that Marti appears on a
Dusty Springfield tribute on Daemon Records where she does "You Don't
Have to Say You Love Me" - has anyone heard this, or care to comment? I
always thought Marti's vocals owed a LOT to Dusty, and this pairing sure
holds a lot of promise.

And Sherman - thanks much for the update on Don and Marti - guess I have
to travel if I'm ever going to see them. Wonder what Don's attraction to
'concept' albums is anyway?

Marti's song "Walk Away" is one of my all time favorite pop songs.Just
looked her up.She has 2 Sugarhill releases from 1996:"My long haired
life"and "Live at Spirit Square", both with Jamie Hoover on guitar. Then
a
2002 release on her husband's labe,"My Tidy Doily Dream" with Richard
Barone
on guitar.Any one hear these and recommend them?
