One of my faves is Mavis Staples take on "A House Is Not a Home" -
included on one of my SOTT compilations. I think the track is from
roughly 1969, but can be found on the recent "Rare Bacharach"
compilation that came out on Raven Australia.

And speaking of Bacharach & SOTT, my entry in the current round closes
with The Trashcan Sinatras version of "Alfie" which appeared on one of
their recent collections of obscurities and demos. And speaking of The
Trashcan Sinatras - they play right here in lovely Eugene, OR on May 10
(perhaps they can be persuaded to bring out the cover a little early for
his birthday!?).

One of the joys of owning your own business is getting to program the
daily music. On the occasion of his birthday, on May 12th I'd like to
feature Burt Bacharach. I have the usual suspects and the fun tribute
Big Deal did a few years back, now I'm seeking the collective knowledge
and musical pedigree of this list for suggestions in two areas:

First, interesting interpretations -- pop or otherwise (I know McCoy
Tyner did a Bacharach album, for example) -- of Bacharach compositions.

Secondly, songs about or so overtly in the style of Bacharach as to be
suitable homages.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.
