There used to be an IPO Yahoo Group mailing list. It
was created early on (first year or two?) so that
folks attending the L.A. fest wouldn't clog up
Audities with posts relating to the fest (not counting
reports and such). I don't think that list is really
going anymore. So, I would suggest that
out-of-towners wanting to meet Auditeers at IPO, or
heck, just coming in from out-of-town to see a show,
should just post on the list here. Or, if you know
Auditeers in the locale, e-mail them off-list. I've
met a few Auditeers that way.

Reading your e-mail made me think of how things have
changed with IPO, now that the fest is both more
international and more local. When it was only in
L.A., it brought in a wide array of talent from all
over and, as the sole fest, people traveled from all
over. The first IPO I attended (the third one
overall) was one of the best times I've ever had in my
life -- I met so many great people from all around,
that it's impossible to keep up with all of them with
the consistency each and every one of them deserves.
The Orchid Suites was hopping every day and night, and
hanging out on the rooftop with Michael Coxe, Robin
Wills, Dave Stevens, Jennifer LeDuc, Scotty Thurling,
et al. was fantastic.

Now that the fest is more ubiquitous, there's less
reason for people to travel. Some folks still do, but
there's no longer that center. Of course, with the
fest in different locations, even more bands get a
chance to play. It's the trade off, I suppose.
