"The Problem With Rock and Roll" is the name of the new CD by the
Slurs, but the Slurs are definitely not the problem. This is a great
punk/garage album, and the key to this album, might be the fact that
it was 3 years in the making. In other words, they spent a lot of
time giving every song something extra, whether it be time changes,
backup vocals, guitar dubs, etc. But of course, you need great
tunes and (especially) great snotty vocals, which they have. And
they keep the lyrics simple, basic, and fun. They are punk, but they
are not offensive. Because of that, this album has great crossover
potential, so some people on this group might enjoy it.
So what's The Problem with Rock and Roll? Besides that it's one of
the best song on the CD (the 13th song on the CD, which clocks in at
about 30 minutes)? Well, you have to buy the CD to find out, and
listen to the lyrics. Because the reason they give, is pretty funny.
It's not often that I smile, when listening to a song (especially a
punk one!)
