I saved a few CDs from the used bins lately:
Got Van Dyke Parks' Song Cycle for 2.50. Know nothing about it, haven't
listened to it yet, does anyone have any input on it?
Same thing for Spymob's 2004 release - wasn't this in the audities top 20
for 04?
Also picked up M Brah's Treblecharger for $1. I'm a lukewarm MB fan, but
hey, it's worth a buck, right?
Saw 2 Veruca Salt CDs in the 2.50 bin - 8 arms to hold you and American
thighs. I love Nina Gordon's solo CD - its the CD I've been waiting for
Aimee Mann to make since Whatever. But are VS as pop as Nina solo? I kind
of pictured them as a hard alt rock band after seeing them once on Sat Night
Live.
On another note, I am looking to expand my Macca solo collection - I've been
a huge fan of Band on the Run, Venus and Mars and the scads of PM/Wings hits
in the 70s, but need to fill out the album collection. Recently got
McCartney (this could be one great EP - a combo of 3 excellent tunes, 2 good
ones, the rest is filler crap) and Ram (very solid and enjoyable). Am on to
Wildlife and Red Rose Speedway next. After that, I plan to move on to Speed
of Sound, London Town, Back to the Egg, etc thru Tug of War (which I've
heard is great). I think I have everything I want after TOW. Any input on
Wildlife and Red Rose S? (I've heard mixed reviews...)
