The great thing about using computer technology to record and mix things
together is that you can alter the speed of a song without changing the
pitch. You can also alter the pitch without changing the tempo. Since you
can match virtually any song to any other song (within reason) in terms of
tempo and key, it allows for juxtaposition of disparate musical elements.
These are things you can't do with a turntable, although there are some
elements that clearly involve analog manipulation (read as: someone's hand
moving the record back and forth).

My favorite was the DJ Dangermouse video from The Gray Album that put Jay Z
in the concert scene of A Hard Days Night. I think the link was posted here
at some point but it soon disappeared. Too bad. I thought it was hysterical.
