<< I don’t know if Gary Pig Gold likes “Panic” by The

Smiths (y’know, the song where Morrissey sings “hang

the DJ”), but I would not be surprised if he doesn’t

after looking at his list of the unsung heroes of rock

and roll. Not to spoil anything, but he ignored

Madman Mancuso who played the same Buddy Holly record

over and over, and was winningly portrayed by Fred

Travalena in The Buddy Holly Story. That’s how good

Gary’s list is. >>

Although I'll admit (brag even?) over having not ever heard, that I can
remember at least, a single solitary Smith and/or Morrissey track Mike, I DO
vividly recall the Madman's utterly scene-chewing spin in the BH Story (....which I
spent the majority of the Summer of 78 watching, at a different Toronto-area
theatre, every available Friday night!)

So along similarly Hollywood Rock lines I should've included Screamin' Steve
from Rock n Roll High School in my survey, I know, but maybe Casey will invite
me back for a sequel,

Gary "once actually covered the Archies classic Bang Shang a Lang in his
circa-Buddy Holly Story combo" Pig
