Not surprising that this is American-sounding as it was written by Larry
Weiss (who went on to write "Bend Me, Shape Me" and "Rhinestone Cowboy"
among lots of other great tunes) and Scott English (he had a minor hit of
his own in 1964 called "High On A Hill" and again in 1972 with his
composition "Brandy," which Barry Manilow changed to "Mandy" and scored a
huge hit with). "Popcorn Double Feature" was originally recorded (in New
York) and released in 1967 by Tim Wilde on Tower 353, and this is the
definitive version (though The Searchers' version is fine too).
