Dave, it's outstanding. I can say for sure that it's even more
"accessible" for most folks than Agents. I'm not much of a reviewer
(obviously), but I can offer this: If you buy it and don't like it, I'll
buy it from you and give it to a friend. I'm a long-time (but certainly
long-ago lapsed) BOC fan, and Spectres is one of my favorites. If you
can check out some song samples somewhere (AMG? one of the online
stores?), you should get a pretty good idea of what the record's like.
It's less "dense", there are more harmonies and big choruses, and the
song structures are more, um, straight ahead. It's guitarist / vocalist
Buck Dharma's influence, I'm absolutely sure of that (I have his solo
album
from 1982). Ah hell, I'll say it: It's a Poppier BOC record, if there
can be such a thing. Very highly recommended. I'm gonna go cue it up
right now <grin>.
