Lost in the Grooves weekend - Vroman's reading / radio special

"As a Cliffs Notes of the outré, 'Lost in the Grooves' is a stone gas...

like a midnight bull session with your inner, ADD-afflicted rock geek."

(Magnet, Jan/Feb 2005)

"Exemplary pop writing. 'Lost in the Grooves' is written with such zip,

enthusiasm and love of music that you can't help but get sucked in." (Bob

Stanley, The Times of London, 1/28/05)

"Lost in the Grooves: Scram's Capricious Guide to the Music You Missed"

(Routledge) is an impassioned romp through the history of recorded music,

with almost 100 writers, critics, and musicians weighing in on their

favorite discs that slipped through the cracks. The book sold out its

initial pressing in only two months, and the reviews have been excellent.

The weekend of March 12-13 is packed with coast-to-coast LITG action.

On Saturday 3/12 in Pasadena, CA, contributors will be signing books and

sharing stories of record collector excess at Vroman's Bookstore at 4pm. The

reading is free. Location: 695 E. Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101, phone

(626) 449-5320. 4pm. Participants include Tosh Berman (Billy Fury Tribute),

Kim Cooper, David Cotner (Elke Ka-Spel), Brian Doherty, Ron Garmon (Curtis

Mayfield, Swervedriver), Max Hechter (Silver), P. Edwin Letcher (The Buggs,

Lou Christie), Domenic Priore (beatnik-themed LPs), Ken Rudman ("Get it On,

or, The K-Tel Gods Speak in Whispers"), Gene Sculatti (Tony Bruno, Muddy

Waters' "Electric Mud"), David Smay and Matthew Specktor.

On Sunday, March 13, 2005, from 9pm-midnight Eastern Time, folks can tune

into a special "Lost in the Grooves"-themed episode of contributor CC

Cafarelli's radio program "This is Rock 'n' Roll Radio," either over the

Syracuse, NY airwaves or online at http://www.wxxe.org
