I've had the Jackdaw 4 CD for a good couple of months now. My initial
impression was not the best as much of the CD felt like aping rather
than something new and fresh. It felt like too much worshiping at the
altar of Jellyfish (a band I love by the way).

Having spent some time with "Gramophone Logic", though, I've really
come around to like it quite a bit. This is fresh power pop, not just
re-writes of old favorites. Sometimes, the CDs that don't make it for me
on the first listen wind up being much more long-term favorites. As a
small measure of how much I like Jackdaw 4, I made sure to include a
track from "Gramophone Logic" on my SOTT 19 entry. The song is "Happy
(Dumka?)" which clocks in at an un-power-poppish 5 minutes or so...
