Please Kill Me by Legs McNeil.
It's an oral history on punk, focusing on the rise and fall of the London and NYC scenes. But it also includes the pre-punk era of the Detroit bands (Stooges, MC5, etc.).
A very informative and great read direct from the people who were there.
