Eytan:
Maybe he was invited because he wrote and directed "Analyze This" and
"Analyze That." I was riding in an elevator with him a couple years back --
just the two of us -- and I said, "I loved 'Groundhog Day.'" Another brush
with greatness.
Me: Eytan, Yes, that's exactly why he was invited. That and his admitted
(obviously) interest in the field and his own time spent on the "couch". He
said something like "with all of you in the audience, the transference I'm
experiencing is just amazing!!". :)
Remember on Letterman when he used to have professionals of certain fields
review films? For example, he'd have a supposed Dentist talk about the film
"REDS" and all the Dentist reviewer could talk about was how "their teeth
didn't look right, too white and straight". With that in mind and for what
it's worth, "Analyze This" despite being a comedy, at least had a clue about
the field. Unlike most films (such as "Prince of Tides" for example) .
Sorry, don't get me started.. :)
Eytan: And of course, he co-wrote "Animal House"! It doesn't get any better
than
that!
Me: Yeah, I think one could argue that he co-invented (yes?) a genre that no
one has improved upon.
