My three most memorable upside-down bills were:

Nirvana opening for Mudhoney (Marsugi's, San Jose, 1991)

Yo La Tengo and Buffalo Tom opening for My Bloody Valentine (Fillmore, San Francisco, 1990)

The Sneetches opening for the Orange Peels (Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, 1998)

And, speaking of Squeeze, they were on my all-time favorite funny billing. About 1985, they played Paramount's Great America, which had this cookie-cutter template for its promotional poster that simply listed the headliner and the opener on a rainbow-style background. They were playing with the Hooters. So, of course, the poster simply said:

                           SQUEEZE
                         THE HOOTERS

Hey, I was 18. I thought it was funny.
