i remember around 1987, Guadalcanal Diary came here to Boston, playing the Paradise on Commonwealth Avenue.....openers were a band from Texas, that few knew other than me it seemed, called the True Beleivers, whose lp had just come out........when I say they won the entire crowd over, I am not mincing words-they played 4 encores, and the crowd didn't let them leave, prompting Guadalcanal singer Murray Attaway even said 'how can we follow THAT!" Talk about sublime!!!
oh yeah, anyone remember when WBCN in Boston had the Elvis Brothers play a lunchtime acoustic show, ON the grounds of Fenway Park? Musta been like 1986 or so.......a TRULY surreal experience and the first time i got to hang out with the ever cool Brad Elvis!!!
