Peter,
This sounds like a popup ad that Ie allows to happen.
there are many varieties of these, that try to trick
the unsuspecting PC user into thinking there is a problem
with the machine. it ismianly just toget you to go to
that search engine, which might be installing spyware.
Use Mozilla, with a built in popup blocker. IE has so many
security holes, it is not worth using anymore.
If you wipe out your hard drive, which I don't think you really
need to do, there are programs that will transfer your iPOD files
to your harddrive. Check out "ipodlounge.com". Many neat tools
and help on there.
