Hey Joe, didn't know you were an Ian Thomas fan. One of my favourites from the 70's/80's also. I included "The Runner" on my SOTT 15 disc. The guy can really pen a good song.

Just saw him a couple of weeks ago at a 200 seat dinner club in Toronto with just a drummer (Jorn Anderson -- played on several of his albums) and bass player. First time I'd seen him in about 20 years. He played songs that spanned over 30 years from his first album through his work with The Boomers.

I haven't been so entertained and laughed so hard as I did that night. The music was superb and he had us all rolling in the aisles laughing till it hurt. They say he's actually funnier than his brother Dave (of SCTV fame) and I can believe it.

Too bad most of his back catalogue will never see the light of day.

Check out his work with The Boomers, especially the last CD entitled "Midway" from 2002. He's apparently working on his first solo CD since 1988's "Levity".

Great fan site also at:

PS: And when can I look forward to another J.J. Giddings release?

Alrighty, here's mine.
Some may be familiar with a few artists, but overall I really tried to pick some
obscure artists and, or songs. Enjoy!

23. Goodnight Mrs. Calabash # Ian Thomas 1976
The best ballad writer in Canada. Thanks to Mike Vancha for
turning me on to one of my favorite singer/songwriters of the 70’s.
A couple of his songs hit my heart and I can’t help but tear up.
