Kevin Mathews asked about the proposed Steely Dan tribute...I'd have to say
it's off. The only submission (unless Jaimie received something else since
we chatted about it) was from The Oohs. For something that so many people
seemed excited to take part in, it's really a shame that we were the only
ones to deliver a track. On the up side, it did spur us into finally
getting back to work on our 3rd CD. Maybe we will let the Dan recording out
when the new album is ready later this year (I promise, it will be out this
summer, we're in the middle of recording NOW - look for more sneak previews
at our MySpace page). And if someone chooses to pick up the ball on this
Steely Dan thing and take it to the goal, please contact me and I will
gladly submit the track we've done.
ELOPE, on the other hand, is Bleu's ELO tribute, performing original songs
in the style of Jeff Lynne and company. Co-conspirators (as told to me by
da man hisself) include Andy Sturmer, Mike Viola, Paula Kelly, Matt
Mahaffey, Steve Gorman, John Fields, and special guests like Hanson (yes,
that Hanson). I certainly hope he releases the stuff, because what I've
heard is excellent (and I've heard more than just the MySpace posts).
