Don't look for Andrea Perry (her first name is pronounced "ahn-DRAY-uh")
to perform any live shows. She is extremely shy for a performer and she
gets severe cases of stage fright.
I interviewed her at Tequila Mockingbird, the Austin studio where she
records. Andrea blushed when my photographer and I asked her to doodle
on the piano.
She is very modest about her talents. One reason she fears a live
audience is that she doesn't believe her singing voice is any good. She
feels it becomes acceptable through the doubling and processing that are
part of studio recording.
Andrea actually makes most of her money writing music for video projects
and jingles for advertisements. The cd's she has released are more of a
sideline, income-wise. And, like many who do the kind of music we
enjoy, she is not rolling in dough. So every cd sale counts, enabling
her to continue doing what she loves.
