I just joined the Ian McNabb Yahoo group last week to look for
information on a compilation CD he appeared on.

Apparently there was a CD called Beggars Banquet R.S.V.P. that had all
BB artists covering The Rolling Stones album of the same name. McNabb
(along with Waterboys Mike Scott and Anthony Thistlewaite) covers "Salt
of the Earth." That track was also included on a Rolling Stones tribute
CD included with a 2001 issue of Uncut. I've got the Uncut CD, but was
looking for additional information on the Beggars Banquet CD.

Anybody here no anything about this??

Also, there have been several live Icicle Works shows in the past few
months torrented on bt.easytree.org. Live, they often threw in a bunch
of really interesting covers.

That is very cool and a great choice in cover songs.I bet you guys
performed a righteous version of Understanding Jane.
I remember the video for Understanding Jane. It was a beach party theme
but it was obviously shot somewhere in the UK (Brighton...maybe) as it
was complete over cast-not the sunny southern Cal that they probably
were striving for-and had more of a Having a Wild Weekend feel to it
than Beach Blanket Bingo.
In addition to Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream) there was a video for
Evangeline that Mtv ran once or twice too.I cannot recall the subject
matter of that but it seems as if it was inside an auditorium or
something.Maybe VH1 Classics will run them.
I just dug out some of my McNabb discs and Head Like a Rock is one of
the Crazy Horse (Talbot and Molina) collaborations. I belive Merseybeast
was another but have not yet located my copy of that one.
