Clive Gregson rules! WRONG END OF THE RACE has the impeccable "Open Fire" as
well as "Turning Up The Heat" and a cover of "Baby Now That I Found
You"...the s/t from 1983 doesn't have an obvious fave for me (but I do know
I liked all their stuff); also LIVE AT THE VENUE. Can't remember others
offhand, and some of my vinyl is not filed properly (hard to get good help
these days)
Oneof my fondest memories is a Richard Thompson club show on a snowy Easter
night in the mid-80s...Gregson (and Christine Collister - yum!) were in the
band and for the second encore they did "Open Fire", with Thompson just
freaking WAILING on the solo. All the ice melted off all the cars at that
moment. (Ironically that song and the recently discussed "Understanding
Jane" were two of my most played tracks many moons ago).
As to the rest...

Love all their stuff - Mike Slamer was a very underrated axe monster. YMGW
is killer - "I've Been Spun" (I've SOTT-ed this one before) is a great and
clever pop tune that I think most Auditeers would like, but they could rawk
too. There are two 2-fer CDs available plus an anthology CD.

"Work Shy" is still one of my favorites to slip onto a mixtape (also on one
of my SOTTs)...first two records are great. Imagine the Kinks playing Nick
Lowe songs or vice versa.

First two (and an EP, as I recall) all fun stuff. I think I burned this to
CD, but if I didn't I will now!

Has some Syracuse roots so it got a lot of local airplay at the time.
Toss in Hilly Michaels, Roger C Reale, Phil Seymour, Tommy Tutone, etc. -
this stuff got me through that 70s/80s transition time when radio was
pumping disco and Euro at me.
