For the record, twas I that posted Dear Friends and Enemies as a 04
best of. No idea what the inquiry is, so if you like, contact me.

Where to start w/BHS. I started w/"Size Of The Ocean." Release prior to
"Dear Friends And Enemies." Went back, grabbed their "Maximum
Sincere", a few other things and wasn't pleased ...at all. Just my
opinion there is all. "Size Of The Ocean" is CLASSIC 'tho ...good
chance you'll like that if you dug UsnDs.

Big Heavy Stuff has elements of Ups And Downs, obviously Greg
Atkinson's vocals, he's the only UsnDser in BHS by the way. But
*atmospherically* ...loads of similarities there. No jangle tho. Moe
to speak of, really. None of that Church(in their heyday ...capitalize
that yr own risk ... blurred crusadeday mebbe ...?)laden jangle found
on Ups And Downs' "Sleepless" elpee or the string of stellar Basketcase
singles released prior to it.

But.

When I first heard "Size Of The Ocean" I could not help thinking that
it coulda' been the near seemless follow-up to "Sleepless." Maybe it's
just me, but that was my initial feeling, still think so actually. Ups
and Downs went a lil south on me on their follow up to "Sleepless"
...release in question being 1988s "Underneath The Watchful Eye" on
Mushroom. Had a few nice solid tunes on it, was hopeful when "Moments
Away" was released as the *fluffer* single but overall ...NEXT.

Like I said, I happened upon Big Heavy Stuff a little late as well.
Better late than never tho, fab band! There's a Yahoo group for 'em
too. You may have some luck connecting w/a copy of the anthology there.
