Even McCartney thought Flowers was a strong album; he wanted to have good
material to tour on for his first major tour in years. He opened those
shows with "Figure of Eight," which was even better live than on record and
worked great as an opener, the prominent bass line giving him a chance to
come right out and establish himself instrumentally. For me its one of his
best, the first high water mark since Tug of War. "Figure," "Distractions,"
"Put It There," "We Got Married," "This One," "My Brave Face," all favorites
of mine within his canon.
