Maybe it's the memories I have of the time when this
came out, but I thought McCartney's 'Press To Play'
release was one of his best solo records and, as a
whole, surpassed a large amount of his Wings output
under the same circumstances - a lot of great singles
with a lot of filler, for the most part, IMHO.

Paul had one of the 80's most significant
producer/engineers, Hugh Padgham, behind the board and
arguably the best line-up of session players he had or
has since worked with - Jerry Marotta, Carlos Alomar,
Eric Stewart, Eddie Rayner, Phil Collins, Pete
Townshend.

But what the work reveals here certainly is that, as a
writer, Paul has always been at his best with a
collaborator - something we all knew from his days as
a Beatle. Having 10cc's Eric Stewart participate in
this role is undoubtedly what made the songs here
memorable for me at least.

So here's a question - who should Paul McCartney seek
out at this point as a songwriting collaborator?

Bill
