4. Paste magazine -- I know my friend Jodi subscribes(d?) to this
magazine but I picked up a copy of the Dec/Jan 05 issue while I was
there. It already always came with a free CD in each issue but now
starting with the current one, subscribers only will get a DVD as well
with music videos and excerpts from other music DVDs. The current issue
features videos by Jem and Elvis Costello, along with several others.
And I comment in reply:
Since these guys (it's mostly an all-guy staff based in Atlanta, but
they're growing with each issue, it seems) supported my friends The
Innocence Mission early on in the mags history, I was tipped to the mag
early on and boy am I glad I subscribed when I did. I very much look
forward to each issue. I think the inclusion of a DVD (PLUS the always
excellent music sampler) in each bi-monthly issue makes this one of the
best deals going. If you're looking for a new mag, folks, I swear you
can't go wrong here. Perhaps a little twangy / rootsy and maybe even
sometimes a bit folky for you serious dead-on power-poppers out there
... but mostly it's pretty well rounded. The new DVD is EXCELLENT, I
think. Girlfriend and I enjoyed it again last night, it's 4 hours long,
start to finish. NRBQ video!
