Hi Stewart and all,
Mike from Microindie is a friend of mine and I am very pleased that one of his cdr comps found the way to someone who appreciates it. Being from the Grand Rapids area I especially love the clip of the late John Peel saying something like "Grand Rapids,Michigan..sounds like a lovely place but it probably isn't"
Mike personally burns those samplers on his pc and he makes them available in many stores here in town as well as Parasol,Not Lame and Darla.
He has put out some great stuff for years on several labels (Quiddity,Drive-In and Microindie) as well as providing distro for several Aussie labels (Candle,Library and Chapter)>
He has become the Australian embassy to the indiepop community as he hosts bands in his home when they tour across the US. Several years back he loaned his Cougar to the Lucksmiths who toured both US coasts driving his car from one side to the other. He then flew out to ,I believe,San Francisco to pick up his car and drive it back to Michigan.
Last Summer we had both Sodastream and Architecture in Helsinki play within a week of each other as they passed through on tour and stayed with Mike.
5.00 for Sodastream-Hill for Company and 10.00 for Sodastream-Looks Like a Russian are fantastic prices. I know i paid no less than 16.00 each for those back when they 1st came out and they were not easy to find at that time either.

Some other catalog items to look into are:

Bearsuit-Cat Spectacular (much talk in the indie world about this ,i think,UK band .US version out on Microindie sometime around the middle of this month)
both Cats Miaow discs on library. (with the exception of the Bliss Out release on Darla I think everything they have done is on these two disc)
Darren Hanlon-Hello Stranger http://www.microindie.com/mailorder/drive58.htm
Flower Machine -Chalk Dust Dream of the Tea Cozy Mitten (side project of Peter from Majestic. Very enjoyable contemporary sunshine pop)
Icicles- A Hundred Patterns (Local Grand Rapids indiepop band who launched this disc back in November at a roller rink. As they performed I kept thinking of the Three O'Clock-Her Head's Revolving video. The Icicles are about to embark on national tour)
Lucksmiths ...He put out two Lucksmiths discs and carries several others. The lucksmiths have been coming through this area for over ten years . They have played free afternoon assembly type performances at Mike's kids' elementary school at least twice as have the Salteens. It is very cool to watch bands interact with gradeschoolers)
Postal Blue ep (Brazilian band with subsequent releases on Matinee who cross between Sarah indiepop and Creation shoegaze)
Robert Cooper cd (ONLY 2.00 for an Australian import...and it is a nice easy listening treasure from Robert who played with,i believe the Lucksmiths as well as Earthmen and Sugargliders)
Salteens-Let Go of Your Bad Days http://www.microindie.com/mailorder/drive60.htm
Sekiden-Junior Fistion (Punchy power pop with an electronic undertoine. i have posted about them before on Auds)
Shapiros comp (Pam Berry fronted indiepop supergroup with members of Cats Miaow,Heartworms and Veronica Lake (another great band),
Superfalling Star 7" (inspiring shoegaze meets spacerock. I love this disc)
v/a Library Records comp only 12.00 (2cd collection that was the culmination of a fine Australian indie labels releases. This is a great sampler of some of the other wonderful bands like Sleepy Township,Huon (Cannanes people),Other People's Children,Sweet Wiliam, various Cats Miaow members side projects and more)

Sorry for rambling but I hope this is helpful.
best,
