Downbeat, moody and woozy? Elliot Smith and Will Oldham? Wow, sounds
like Microindie must have chosen an *extremely* non-representative
song for their sampler, because this one, "Blinky," is a jaunty little
tune for acoustic guitar and trumpet (with cellos, true, but I'm as
there for a good trumpet part as you are for a cello) that sounds like
a great lost Sarah Records single or, perhaps, a less precious Belle
and Sebastian. I'll see what I think when the discs get in, but a
total of $30 for three full-length albums and an EP just seemed like
too good a deal to pass up.
