Okay, I'm confused. The new album by The Chris Stamey Experience, A
QUESTION OF TEMPERATURE, is out on Yep Roc on January 25. So far, so
good.
However, the album is currently up on eMusic, and its listing on the
Yep Roc website confirms something really weird: This is EXACTLY the
same record as the V.O.T.E. album (released under the name "Chris
Stamey and Yo La Tengo"), plus two bonus tracks, "Conspiracy Theory"
and "Dr. Strangelove's Assistant," and with the "V.O.T.E." jingle
moved to the end of the record instead of the beginning. They're the
same recordings, even in the same track order! (The two new tracks
bracket the original 11 songs.) It even has the same cover, just a
new album title and artist credit.
What gives? Why release the same album twice, three months apart?
