I've always loved the Brits' definition of pop -- which means current
popular music, spread across multiple genres.
Heck, if I look at my year-end top 10 list, it's not until Nos. 4 or 5 that
I actually have a so-called "power-pop" record listed. My No. 1 record of
the year was The Streets' 'A Grand Don't Come For Free,' which wouldn't fit
the narrow definitions of some, but definitely qualifies as POP music in the
grander scheme of things.
Besides if I listened to the narrow "white boys with guitars" genre all the
time, I'd go insane.
And I say this as a card-carrying member of a "white boys with guitars" band
who loved "Smile," and "Better Living With Compression."

Just a thought.
