Actually, Interpol's "Antics" is garnering quite a bit more praise than its debut, and deservingly so. While most discussion on the debut focused on Interpol's Joy Division jones, most of what I've read about "Antics" talk about advancing their sound. "Slow Hands" is pretty spiffy. But, as was suggested, not power pop.
Tegan and Sara's sense of melody, spare arrangements and use of harmony make their record special, not the fact they're lesbians. Or sisters. Or even Canadians, for that matter.
There is a new Lassie Foundation record. It's fun, in a very '80s way, right now to the laser-guided guitars. Looking forward to catching them at their residency at the Detroit Bar in Orange County (Mondays in January, for those in SoCal).
Cheers
Bronson
