There was talk about differences in the stereo/mixes mixes of "Wonderful
Summer" by Robin Ward (a real guilty pleasure, Dot 1963) on Spectropop earlier
this year. Pulled out my old 45 to compare - and the mono mix is so much
better
than the stereo which sounds weak. Its not the first time I heard a 45 sound
better than the CD. Many Motown and Spector classics still sound better than
the remastered versions.
I think the original EMI pressing of "Magic" by Pilot still sounds better than
the CD versions from Collectables and Rhino. Capitol-EMI always had very high
quality 45's pressings, from Les Paul & Mary Ford to the Foo Fighters
singles I
have collected.
I need to find my copy of "Goodbye to Love" and compare it to the CD - I
really
loved that guitar solo back in '72.
Favorite Xmas song? - "Christmas (Please Come Home) By Darline Love" is a good
choice - I have it on a original Philies 45.
