I wasn't talking about the Anthology. I was talking about the catalogue. 
When the original Beatles albums were being considered for CD re-issue in 
the mid-80s he was asked to remix all the albums. He started to work on 
"Please Please Me", then realized the amount of work it would take to get 
those two-track mixes happening and gave up by saying "why bother, it's not 
necessary"....only later did he use his deafness as an excuse not to do the 
work.

Can't recall the exact order of events, but I believe it was George's 
frustration at the mess of the "She Loves You" mix and master that prompted 
the Pro-Tools re-imagining for the eventual re-issue on the Red Album 
(62-66). That's the one with all the bad edits that were finally smoothed 
out.
